[edit] History

Bad Brains started out as a jazz-fusion ensemble called "Mind Power" influenced by Black Sabbath and the Dead Boys. Later Mind Power became more obsessed with punk rock music and changed their name to Bad Brains after the Ramones song of the same name. They soon became followers of the Rastafarian movement and delved into Reggae music. They grew locally in D.C. because of the novelty of an all Black punk rock group. After growing arguments with singer H.R. the band took it's first split in 1984. in 1986 only 2 years later they were back together and released I Against I. Despite the success of this new album they broke up again in 1987. They got together on last time in 1993 before calling quits again and recorded the album "Rise"
