Founded in 2010 by Ben B., the only member of the noise project The Purple Flaming Christ. The label had been an idea of his for a few years, and he felt this would be the best time to make it a reality, seeing as his personal and side project was getting out of control, and that there was some growth in the local music scene that was fed up with almost no choice in labels.
[edit] Philosophy
BFR is known for it's extremely liberal philosophy, both politically and concerning management. Ben B., and most of the others at BFR (whether on roster or working with Ben) are Socialist or Communist alined. In terms of management, BFR is non profit, it lets it's bands choose between the BFR studio with Ben producing or choosing their own producer and studio. The band can create their own album cover and distribute it by their own means, and create and capitalize off their own merchandise in which BFR lets them take 100% of sales (since BFR releases all merch through a free third party). The only place BFR steps in is all bands releases must have a BFR logo on the CD case. BFR is non-profit, allowing bands to keep all their own profits, Ben does not believe the label deserves a cut of what other people made.

BFR does not align with one genre. The word 'alternative' is used as in "an alternative to local labels, and the music of the local scene". Genres on BFR range from Noise to Grindcore to Gabber to Folk Rock to Jazz.

Blind Fish Records is currently on Blogger [1], myspace, and ReverbNation. Updates and free downloads are available though myspace or blogger.
