Guyana Punch Line
From Punkopedia - The Punk, Hardcore, and Indie Encyclopedia
Guyana Punch Line was a South Carolina hardcore punk band from 1998 until 2003. People from bands like In/Humanity, Antischism and .fuckingcom, including the prolific Chris Bickel, comprised the band. They worked hard to bring Bickel's school of thought called Smashism to the masses through heavy, hard confusion music. Guyana Punch Line's lyrics were witty highlights, often likened to Dead Kennedys and Feederz. They toured the United States twice, most well known for their appearance at the "super Sabado Gigante" festival in which they infected the entire audience with "the guyana punch line flu". The band ended in late 2003 because of disagreements as to where the band wanted to go next, musically. Chris Bickel now concentrates on his noise project Anakrid and the core of the first line up of GPL plays in Thank God, with releases on drummer Troy Thames's label, Tick Tock Records.
