[edit] History

TPFC began in 2008 as a joke. While Ben worked at the local Democratic headquarters as a campaigner, he used the band name "The Purple Flaming Christ" to mock the hipster/indie/scene kids with whom he worked with. Soon after that he began seriously thinking about making the joke a reality. So armed with GarageBand, a mixer, 2 friends, and Photoshop, he set out to make TPFC. The First album "The Demo E.P." was finished in 2009, and he hasn't stopped making music since. After The Demo E.P. he released 16 albums while being unsigned, and released his first label album in 2010. He currently is the founder and manager of his own Independent label, which he is signed to. Even though his previous albums were self-released, his label is re-releasing them.

[edit] Current Plans

TPFC has over 20 albums planned and mapped out down to exact detail in a very organized note-taking formatted text document on his computer. He is currently out of harddrive space, which may delay his current plans for anywhere from one to two years.

[edit] Music

The music of TPFC is hard to describe, it encorporates a variety of musical instruments and genres. The sound of The Demo E.P., Minutemen EP, 24, !.#2*_^4 is the signature "Magical Wall of Noise" music, it uses heavily distorted guitars, bass, drum machines, synth, white noise, feedback, improvised instruments (such as clanging beer bottles together), and saxophone. The end product is very much like a Avant-Grindcore. Scary however is a slower paced doom metal album. It encorporates electronica, industrial, doom metal, ambient doom, and death metal. ЯL is purely experimental, in which each track can only be heard on one side of stereo speakers (so R=right, L=Left). The album is almost purely synth with some bongos, drums, and white noise. Human Sounds will be an album with very little instrumentation, with most "Musical" noises coming from white noise or actual human noises (clapping, snapping, stomping, etc..), and will also include time studies. God is a more industrial album, making heavy use of white noise, synth, feedback, distortion, and sampling. It will also contain some more straight-forward "metal" tracks. The Deaf series of EPs is nothing but amplified feedback. Broadcast N9ne will the be the first album to incorporate Ben's trombone playing abilities (within the signature sound), and will be very politically charged. Beat It and 69 Corporate Love Songs will be and experiment on the signature sound. The Mash Ups is all previous TPFC up to that point compilied into songs made from seperate instrument tracks from previous TPFC. Psychocountry will be an country music played in the signature style. The World's Largest Christian Cross will be a synth-driven grindcore album (much like The Locust), Kingdom and Everything and All Else are expected to have the sound of Scary, and "The Cameras..." will be a jazz album. Almost all of TPFC's music uses samples from TV, Music, Movies, and Video Games.

[edit] As a Label Manager

As of March 2010, Ben's 3 year brainchild of a label became a reality and Blind Fish Records was born. He is founder/manager and head producer for the label, and oversees production of every album. The label is founded on a very liberal philosophy and is non-profit. [4]
